Standing in the Rain

Do you think you’ll ever find your way
Can you tell me if your sky’s still grey?
The rains have come, and never passed
I guess you thought you’d never last, this long

The years stretch on, but they feel the same
You keep on fighting but the scars remain
The same old battles against the wind
You’re losing ground to the enemy within

How long will you stand out in the rain?
How long will you hold on to your pain?
I see you shiver in the cold
The years are cruel, and you feel so old
Bitterness is your only friend
Please let go before the end

From a seed, a flower grows
It’s here today, but soon must go
But you fought your war and you missed it all
Life passed you by as you built your walls

You’ve paid too much with no return
When the fires came you let them burn
Now there’s nothing left but ash and dust
Empty years – decay and rust
